Below is a little background to some of our permanent ales.

We also brew our new seasonal speciality brews under our ‘Bakehouse Brewery’ umbrella. For details please see

Lady Godiva – Named after Earl of Mercia’s wife who rode around Coventry on horse back naked (you’ve probably heard about it!) to oppose taxes.

Duck Soup – Initially brewed as the house beer for the Student’s Union pub ‘The Dirty Duck’ at Warwick University’s Student Union, has now gone on to becoming somewhat of a cult favourite.

Shakespeare’s County – A great refreshing lower gravity golden ale named after good old Bill Shakespeare who was born down the road in Stratford Upon Avon.

Darling Buds – Our award winning CAMRA Champion Beer of Warwickshire is a 4.0% golden ale with pale lager malt and Maris Otter makes this a real ale alternative to lager.

Kingmaker – Named after Richard Neville, the (Earl of Warwick) became known as the ‘Kingmaker’ after his role in the war of the roses. His tomb is at St. Mary’s Church in town centre, Warwick. It is rich fruity Christmas cake of a beer, ruddy brown in colour.

Best Bitter - A top quality choice for everyday drinking!

We are currently in our third year of successfully brewing and distributing a beer for the worldwide men’s charity MOVEMBER.

The charity raises awareness of men’s health issues with its major benefactor being the Prostate Cancer Research charity.
